Hello, I have a linea 3av. 2years old.. this is what happens to my linea...
When the steam boiler refills the water sometimes it makes really high grinding noise.
Looks like solenoid valve is not open when the water fills... so I changed solenoid valve and check valve. everything looks perfect.. so amazing... I check cpu yesterday all in great shape. water filter checked and probe is clean... I don't know why it makes noise...
make noise when I use 20oz of water from hot water spot. or sometimes auto fills water.
Please help me!!!

It's most likely an electrical problem that is not harmful (as I understand it) to the machine. There isn't quite enough current to fully open the valve so it rattles during refill. I had it explained to me by the lead LM tech in Seattle so instead of upgrading my electrical service to the machine, I'm just leaving it as it.
thank you for the reply! Yes I was thinking that too.... but in my case sometimes boiler making refills twice in one cycle..... refill & stop and starts refill again right after 3~4seconds later.... and during second refill it makes grinding noise... so amazing... what happen if probe is set too low..?? my boiler water level is only half way see in sightglass.. looks not enough water in boiler?? any idea???

First of all, if you're pulling 20z cups of water from your steam boiler, it's going to refill quite often.
Next, take the top off of the machine and look at the steam boiler. You'll see what looks like a stainless steel, L-shaped stick with a wire coming off of it going into the boiler. It will be secured to the boiler with some sort of nut-shaped collar. This is the probe that tells your Linea electronics when to fill and when to stop filling.
Half of the sight glass is too low. You want to have about a nickel's worth of headroom in the sight glass. Pull the probe up (BUT NOT OUT OF THE BOILER) until the boiler fills to the correct level. If you pull it too high, you can push the probe back down and then purge water from the boiler with another 20z cup.
