Recommendations Requested! Good Coffee In Puerto Vallarta - Where?

We will be leaving for Puerto Vallarta next week and I would like to make the journey without bringing my own coffee.

One would think that good coffee should be easy to find in Mexico, but I have repeatedly failed to find a spot where I could get my caffeine fix along with a delicious cup of coffee.

If you have any recommendations, I would be ever so grateful if you would share.

Thanks GodBod...

Have you been there? The coffee that is served in the restaurants that we have been to is just plain bad. Coffee shops are almost nonexistent and I admit that I have physical symptoms (massive headache) if I don't have my morning coffee.

I may well be bringing my own coffee, but you would think that I could find decent coffee in Mexico... Chiapas.... Vera Cruz... Guatemala... Costa Rica... Coffee country is closer there than here for heaven's sake.
Wow..Ur Right you would think you could get a nice cup anywhere you turned, I have never been there personally, but have been waiting on the opportunity, have worked for a few Companies that sent jobs there, on a good note I have a friend there that wants me to help him with a Internet Cafe there next year...Good Luck on your Coffee!!! I know what you mean about symptoms, my X was Mexican ,and she use to have them,I thought it was funny till I had to ween(sp) myself off of the Habit...lol...BE Strong~~If ya need it that bad I'll send ya a serenge of PAN Roast on me ;-)....

Thanks! I will contact you if I need you to send me some of your specialty.
I can't believe in this diverse group that no one can recommend a coffee shop in Puerto Vallarta!

I guess I will have to go in search and report back to you all... for the sake of the group.

Would that make this a business trip?
No good coffee in Mexico. Well, almost.
You're probably back from your trip by now but FYI....

Mexico has excellent coffees, but exports most of their good stuff, leaving the junk for the locals.
I've lived in Mexico for 5 years and rarely find good coffee in stores.
Coffee Shops don't have it either. The coffee shop owners are mostly non-coffee drinkers who want to cash in on the trends, and don't even know how to pull shots or steam milk. The stores look like Starbucks, but the "coffee tastes like tabacco juice".

There are exceptions, as there are many FINE baristas in mexico who compete at regional and WBC competitions, but their shops are few and hard to find.

And as for Guatemalan or Costa Rican coffees.... well, they're not allowed here. Mexico protects it's industry by not allowing the importation of green coffee from other countries. If you find Columbian or somthing here, it's been in warehouses for months.

If you are traveling anywhere in Mexico, I'd be glad to hook you up with good espresso bars, since I have connections all over the country.
Media Luna in Mexico City was good. Seemed like they had more than one shop, but maybe just in the DF?
