We have the best of all worlds in Philly- better weather than NYC or DC, a vibrant and booming counter culture, and the beginnings to an awesome coffee vibe... or am I wrong?

Is Philadelphia going to supplant cities like Baltimore and DC for Mid-Atlantic bean bragging, or will the combined forces of Dunkin', *$, and Saxby's (Let's talk about this one) drag higher coffee culture into the Delaware?

We'll tell you where to stick that cheesesteak joke... Don't even start.

I'm here to do my part.
Yeah, I've got what I call a "three year plan" for my little corner of brotherly love.
Things are definitely looking up in Philly coffee.
Where are your favorite cafe's?

Center-City?
South Philly?
The Great Northeast?
The Western Highlands?
On the Jersey Side?
Down the Shore?
On the Main line:

The Gryphon- GB5, French press if you ask for it, Torreo coffee
MilkBoy Bryn Mawr- GB5, French press only, Counter Culture coffee
MilkBoy Ardmore- Linea, CCC, (Both MilkBoys just put tripple ristretto on the menu)
Chestnut Hill- Linea, French press if you ask, Ambex roaster upstairs

In Center City:
Last I heard Chestnut Hill was selling coffee to The Beauty Shop (2001 Fitzwater St)

And the Grand Opening for Spruce St Espresso, at 11th and Spruce, is March 1, 2008
GB5- Formerly owned by Ninth St in NYC, French press only, CCC

In Scranton-
Norther Lights Espresso, Gimme! coffee

I know there are plenty of others, this is just a thin slice of the pie.
Hey Phil-
Also in Scranton, Check out Electric City Roasters, run by the amazing Mary Tellie. Her "Zummo's Cafe" is great, and her own Autobahn Espresso Blend is STELLAR.
Yeah, STELLAR!
I love that she runs her own beans through a Clover. I had the opportunity to taste a couple COEs, as well as a non-auction lot Esmerelda.
Best kept secret in Scranton, I'd say.
I have heard of Zummo's and the rumored Clover, but no direct experience. I did not know about them roasting COE's. I guess I will have to stop in.

I also forgot to mention, in Northern Liberties, One Shot, with a Linea and Intelligentsia, where the coolness level is off the chart.

(When in Northern Liberties, one simply must stop by Delicious Corsets. www.deliciouscorsets.com , you can pick up what Daryn Berlin calls "the best jeans I've ever owned".)
I'm listening to Warren Zevon's 1980 concert from the Tower Theater here in Philly.
Warren Zevon is one of my all-time favorite writer-performers, and a man that called Philadelphia home.
You can find his show along with a treasure trove of live historic performances at www.wolfgangsvault.com.
yo....Philly is south of Easton on the coffee map! :-)
Nothing gets past you, Reynard.
I love the new artwork- see you up there soon, man.
