This weekend I intended to start contacting folks about the jam. Since this is only the second local event of this kind, I don't have much to fall back on for ideas and experience. However, just having a second event is progress.
As I make contact a more defined event will emerge, but the idea is to hold it earlier in the day so it can end earlier, but keep it open-ended in case everyone is enjoying themselves, there's no need to set an end time. Any feedback to a 2:00 p.m. start time?
I believe alcohol (i.e. beer) would be a problem; let me look into it. Food may be a low-key potluck, meaning it's not necessary to bring anything unless you'd like. A few parties involved in helping me organize have offered to bring some food, and I will approach my venders for some treats.
This is a work in progress, but in progress for sure. The jam is on.
I am in touch with Stumptown Coffee for samples. I'll have a Zojirushi water heater on hand for cupping(s). La Prima has not been requested yet, but will likely loan some Cimbali Jr's. to go with our equipment.
I look forward to any and all comments, and look forward to seeing lots of folks on February 10.

We can bring our Cimbali Jr. if needed. It's a reservoir model, so no need for pumps, etc. Let us know. If there's other stuff you want for cupping, there's another local guy who might be interested in providing some samples. We have an informal cupping arrangement with them. Any idea if you want to have variety or explore a specific region?

If beer doesn't work, we can do wine, no? We're sophisticated ;-)
I'm checking with building management about alcohol... not sure how that works, and one issue I continue to forget to ask about.

Your Jr. is probably in better shape than what I might borrow. I'll check with Phil. The La Prima Jr.s are also pour-over. I'd hate to add difficulty to your day. I'll let you know on that.

I was thinking of starting early, 2:00 p.m. and let it run through the evening. Comments? The building is open all night, but the cleaning crew starts at 9:00, and we don't have to leave but i was going to try for an earlier end time than how late the first jam went.

As to cupping supplies, again I was going to talk to Phil. As to a variety of regions, Stumptown is sending samples, but nothing was specified. Would it help if I made specific requests? Any thoughts on inviting Coffee Tree? They've had some interesting Cup of Excellence coffees.
In addition to the two Stumpie varietals and the LP Tanzania you've already procured, we've asked Carl Hauptmann of Jake's Java to drop by and supply some production roasts as well as "cupping" roasts for the cupping - so we can use both the flavor and taint wheels (we've got a dozen copies to bring with). If you've never cupped for taints, it's a challenge and very educational. Carl will be there 5-ish but I understand he's traveling Monday and can't stay for the duration, so if we can think about cupping 6-ish that would be great. We've got glassware and water pitchers as well... should be entertaining.
Per my earlier post, alcohol is allowed. I will supply some beer, but anyone is welcome to BYOB.
