So, I've read lots on CG and others about the great reduction in sediment in french press brews by replacing the stock filter assembly with one made by Swissgold. I've also read that they stopped making them a few years ago.

Anyone have a few dusty ones banging around on their retail shelves or know if anyone else has started making them?

Thanks!

Hey Brady,

You might find this link useful.

I have one of these on my larger (8-cup) french press. It makes a HUGE difference in sediment and what I call "dirtiness" in the cup. Check it out; their cheap, too.

Perfect! I was so focused on finding the Swissgold one that I'd totally missed this. Thanks.
The nylon screen I put in my Bodum press has helped the coffee I brew exponentially. All my non-coffee geek friends will drink every last drop of pressed coffee now and only the slightest bit gets through. I have no problem recommending one.
Got mine today (thank you again, Sweet Marias!). I like it. Thanks all.
Did you notice the difference immediately?
Yeah... Mom will drink it now.

I'm really happy with the improvement in the cup. Still tinkering with the parameters (as I expect I will for the rest of my life), but as it stands it is a nice cup of coffee. Still has that great french press body and flavor, but things are just clearer.

Our process now is: preheated beaker, 1 oz (28 grams) coffee ground for drip, 16 oz water @ 195-200 deg, 2-1/2 minute infusion (with a swirl in the middle), 30 second plunge, pause to settle, pour into ceramic. I use a few extra ounces of water so that I have a quality control sample for myself :).

Thanks again for the help.
