Hello everybody! 

I have a 1-2 cup Hario Siphon. I have only the cloth-wick alcohol burner and I would like to try it with a butane burner, cause the alcohol burner is kinda slow, and I would like to find out how it comes out with a butane burner.

Anyone out there with some experience with siphon who could help me out a bit?
What butane burner have you been using and how has it been working? And also where can I get it from? Im located in Europe.

Appreciate your help!

I know very little about this so have held off... but a little answer is better than none, right?

Most of the butane burner's I've seen in use have been Hario. A quick Google search ought to yield a little more info on it. Halogens seem to be preferable though.

No matter what you use, start with water that's already hot to minimize your waiting time.

check out rekrow butane burners they are refillable and I'm sure you can pick one up in Europe. Boil your water then use the butane burner to maintain the boil, when the air bubbles are about the size of a cats eye and flowing fast gently put the top over the bottom with a slight twist, use a thermometer to measure the heat and when it reaches 200 put your coursely ground coffee in it.I use a 17 grams of water to 1 gram of coffee ratio, for a 1 cup about 22 grams of coffee. Once the coffee is on the top push it down with a spoon or spatula, time it with your watch or a timer let it sit for 30 seconds then gently draw your spoon or spatula in a W across the top, let sit another minute then remove from heat and take your spoon or spatula and draw it around the outside of the top once as it drops and voila a great cup with your butane burner. Cool thins about the butane burner is that it gives you greater flexibilty to control the coffee temp and it is much faster than the halogene heat lamps which we use but only for the theatrical as they are crazy expensive for home use. Enjoy the outcome and use a medium coffee like a yirgacheffe etc. for the best results as dark roasted coffees just taste dark roasted :)
