We've got a Fetco Extractor and I think it produces a better cup than a french press.  Much cleaner and it would seem more practical for a morning rush since you can brew three liters with a single in under five minutes.  I'm not a big fan of french press coffee though.  The fetco doesn't produce as good of a cup as a properly brewed chemex however I think it's a great tool for brewing airpot coffee.
