Hi, I'm new to barista exchange. I heard about it via Ballissimo coffee podcasts. Sad to see them not up and running the podcast anymore. A little background. I've been running my own coffee shop now going on 3 years. We just moved from a really bad location to a fabulous location. Sales have picked up very nicely, and we are seeing positive growth in all areas. We even have a drive-thru now and it is generating an additional 30% sales for us.

I want to design an inventory of merchandise before the holiday season hits. The community is asking us for tumblers and mugs and such. But, having said that, I don't want to get too ahead of myself. Should I worry about a line of merchandise mugs and accessories this year? And if yes to merchandise in any way, how should I start it? What are the best trends to follow for designing a merchandise inventory?

Thank you.

Danny

No guts no glory. Only you can decide how much to invest/risk in a new product line.

That said personally I started with only SS Travel Mugs. Then ordered pint glasses for summer months iced bevs. Sold a bunch both then ordered diner mugs. Ordered more Travel Mugs, but the last I'll order of these - next will be higher quality. Then ordered laser etched shot glasses. Then recently first T-Shirt design.

That's a nice approach. Building as you go. That's some nice food for thought. Thanks.
