That's cool. But what about those baristas uninterested in competition? Or perhaps those baristas who are not very experienced and that could use the experience of a trip to origin to help round out their education?

Seems to me that the need of baristas going to origin could be better spent on something other than prizes for competition winners that the SCAA/SCAE/WCE/WBC should be providing for in the first place.

Thanks for your comment Jay. This first trip is just the beginning for us in getting more Baristas to origin. Our hope is that this trip will kick off a long line of awesome trips for baristas of all types to origin!

THIS is exactly HOW the SCAA etc. provides said prizes they should be providing, through generous SPONSORSHIPS.

This is a very good prize for the regional champ. Hope it leads to more opportunities for regular baristas as well.

On this topic, those that are interested in something this season could consider something like this which I just head about the other day. Looks like full and partial scholarships are available. Anyone out there still trying to figure out what to get me for Christmas?
