Hi All,

I'm new to this. In fact I will open up my coffee shop in a few months time, so I'm trying to get as much info as possible. I was wondering what are the actual sizes of cappuccino cups. I only want to offer two sizes; a regular and large. From my actual research it seems 5oz is a classic cappuccino size. I've got one for home, but it seems just too small to offer in a commercial environment. Any advice on cups sizes and espresso/milk ratios would be very helpful. My cafe will be in England; maybe the sizes vary country to country

Cheers,

Dav

The 5oz cappuccino does quite well in many markets, and by most standards is the only legit size for this drink. We do offer larger sizes at our cafe (SE USA) but if we were starting over I don't think we would. Be different. Be better. It is a great way to start a good dialog with your customers.
Thanks for you reply. I posted the same query on a similar forum and had similar responses to yours. Below was my reply based on the the market on England

Thanks a lot gents. My initial feeling was that 5 oz might be tad too small. But I do want to supply 2 drinks, keeping the espresso/milk ratios the same. So a regular at 5-5.5oz and a large 10-11oz. I will be surrounded by the main chains, all offering slightly different sizes and slightly different prices.

Cheers,

Dav
We use a 8 oz cap and a 16 oz latte.
We offer only 16 oz It sodas and 16 oz blended drinks.
We also have espresso and espresso sized macchiatos we constantly have to explain to Charbuck customers that what they thought they were getting all these years was really a flavored latte. If they say I don't care what it's called that's what I want... then we fix them the best darn flavor latte they have ever tasted and the next time they order it that way! Sometimes they oder a true macchiato and realize they wanted the latte so we remake it for them as a latte... next in they order the latte.
