Im am installing a Diedrich ir-3 roaster in a new location, and I have a few questions about how to best ventilate the roaster. I can either do it through the wall with outside ducting or I can do it in to a chimney that is in the same room as the roaster. Is it safe to vent an Ir-3 directly into a chimney? The internal diameter in the chimney is 25 cm, it is approx. 7 meters high. It would be very easy going directly into the chimney, but will this reduce airflow? Anyone with experience? I have seen Giesen roasters ventilated this way, but the giesen have automatic adjusting of the airflow.

Do you know the age of the chimney?  At the very least have the chimney inspected. Are you installing an afterburner?  And have you tried contacting Diedrich?    

The chimney was not approved when inspected, it needed major upgrades. Now Im installing ducting through wall, approx. 6 m ducting all together + one 90 bend. Cross my fingers this doesnt kill the airflow.
