Hey all,

Anybody have experience fixing a dripping water tower that leaks from the spout. I'm assuming there is a buildup of calcium in the spout, but not sure how to fix it. (I usually find after taking things apart that some components are not reinsert-able.) Thanks in advance.

If it's the same red-handled tap that you'd find on a Bunn or Fetco drip brewer, my money's on a broken spring. I replace several of these a month for that reason.

You can buy the spring and silicone seat cup lots of places. Just drain the water down so that no more comes out, unscrew the cap assembly (channel locks on the chrome cap), disassemble (push out the roll pin in the handle), and replace for about $5 in parts. OR if the handle's a little beat up and the pin falling out (or you're feeling less brave and/or lazy) you can just the handle and cap as a complete assembly and replace the whole thing.

Do not take it apart until you have the new parts, and get them quickly. The situation will deteriorate very rapidly.

Good luck.

Thanks Brady. It is the spring. It does not look like a standard kind of spring, but I'll see what I can find.

Its a conical spring, wider at the top, narrower at the bottom. Stock item for any Bunn parts house that'd be willing to sell it to you. Couple of bucks tops. Definitely replace the silicone cup while your in there if you can get a new one - the little pocket that the stem pops into tends to tear out after a while. I always replace both.

I hope I can find one in Hawaii. I may have to improvise with something from Home Depot til I can get the stock part. :-O

Duct tape to the rescue! Yes, here's another use for the mighty material. I wrapped the broken spring with duct tape - inside and out as securely as possible - and reinserted it.  Dang if it didn't work!!!

I can now order a spring without spending $75 for overnight shipping, in the event that I cannot find one locally which is doubtful.
