There is a 60 page report published by nescafe in 2003 on the economic and social implications of the price of coffee which touches on points like sustainability and quality improvements that are affected by price in the marketplace.

Congratulations if you read it all.

I like this article you have posted and I think it will hold true. Coffee is starting to be treated like a prized food, like a fine wine, like a gourmet dish prepared by a chef. It always has been treated like a commodity, like oil or iron ore. A bulk product, all the same.

The point I am trying to make, I suppose is that high prices will also influence farmers to cultivate a better crop and to use knowledge that they have acquired due to the network of information that is growing and becoming more readily available.

The article is more informative than i could ever be.

well thats good , belive.. this would really affect roaster that been directly trading at lot more then the Ny market anyway . i will juste make those big coorporation that paid dirt cheap for there coffee a fair trade for the grower.


that is just my opinion and 30 % of nothing isnt much anyway

If the quality isn't there, the price won't be either. Specialty coffee roaster/greens buyers go by the cup, not just a varietal name.
