Flow Restricted Screw
What is the difference between fitting a flow restrictor (gliceur) inside the group-to-flow-meter pipe and disconnecting the flow meter as opposed to installing a flow restricted screw?
I've heard the screws don't produce the same results. Are there any reasons? Are there any benefits in restricting the flow sooner?

If I'm not mistaken, the reduced flow screw creates a kind of pre-infusion, allowing the puck to saturate before full pressure is reached. As far as benefits go for pre-infusion, check out this thread (http://www.baristaexchange.com/forum/topics/is-preinfusion-really) and dive as far into the "rabbit hole" as you wish.
