Catalina on Washington is the best in town. Just west of downtown. Coffee Groundz in Midtown is popular, too, and has later hours. But Catalina is definitely tops! My hubby drives in from the suburbs at least once a week (oftentimes much more often!) and only buys beans from Max (owner) now.
they are welcome to come by my cafe in greenway plaza. i am open mon thru friday 630am to 4pm.
i would in no way recommend coffee groundz, besides having a good beer selection! max at catalina is a great cup though!
I'm giving my vote to Catalina and Tuscany. Either shop is going to give you a great experience, both have competition baristas who will chat your ear off about coffee if you've got the time. Catalina's pulling on a Synesso Cyncra, and Tuscany is on a Faema E61. Two very different shops with an exceptional eye for detail.
If he/she can make it to Humble come to Javaman Coffee on FM 1960E. We serve the best around.
