Proper training including extreme emphasis on keeping equipment clean. Combine with explained and emphasised 2 or 3 strike policy if proper procedures not followed. First offense verbal (and written signed by employee and you) warning and review of procedures, 2nd offense maybe temporary shift reduction and another procedure review and another written. Strike three and bye-bye with cause and documentation. I suspect if bye-bye happened once they'd take you seriously and others would pay more attention to details.
