I would like to talk to people who have set up successful coffee cafes or shop to tell me how to go about starting one. My interests would be inside a high traffic area like a mall where am already eyeing a few good locations. Apart from that i plan on attending barista classs. Would like to offer drinks like lattee, expresso, cappucino.. and have good drinks like star bucks.. well any ideas on how to get started from equipment to good tables and chairs and to go coffee cups.. You can aslo sent me emails at ekaibi@yahoo.com. Thanks

i'm really hoping english isn't your first language. but the first step would be learning to spell espresso, cappuccino, and latte correctly. the second step would be tasting some actual decent coffee (starbucks certainly doesn't count, i think cuvee is in your area - try their stuff). for chairs and tables i've used ikea, and gotten a lot of compliments. i wouldn't buy anything "commercial" or "cafe" style in that regard, it seems terribly overpriced. i would definitely make a trip to attend ABC (there's an ad just to the right of this post) and learn more about coffee before you take any other steps
Yes Estther, talk to the people at American Barista & Coffee School www.coffeeschool.org. You can also talk to the people at Dillanos Coffee Roasters, they know all about starting a cafe also. www.dillanos.com. - Cash c[_]

if you are looking at a few different locations....don't jump on one that is cheaper in rent. There are a lot of great deals out there right now and some people tend to jump on the first cheap location they can find. It's extremely important to take your time and find that perfect location with the most traffic at the right time of day.
