Kyocera Ceramic Grinder CM-45 CF ='s Awesome
I started a discussion about a cheaper grinder for home espresso use a few months ago. The direction of the discussion went was get a hand burr grinder. So i looked and found one on orphan espresso that i thought would work, so i emailed orphan espresso and asked if this pede hand mill would be appropriate for my Rancilio Silvia. They said no, so i continued to look. I ended up choosing the Kyocera cm 45, well it finally arrived yesterday(all the way from japan) and it works awesome. The grinding does take about 2 minutes, but that is a small sacrifice in my book(plus its kind of fun to hand grind) The shots area amazing, its like having a new espresso machine. Anyway I wrote this to anyone that was in the same boat as i was, wanting a quality grinder but not wanting to spend 350 and up. You can purchase these on orphanespresso.com or ebay.

Good to hear your happy with it. That was also my first real grinder. I've spent the money on bigger things at home but still keep that Kyocera at my desk at work to hand grind for my french press.

Ya I figure id put that out there in case anyone was in the position I was in. Its true that it takes a minute to grind in the morning, but as long as you have the time, grinding is actually enjoyable. Clumping is kind of an issue with it, but once again if you dont have time to de-clump, then you probably shouldnt have a hand grinder. I need to try it for french press(ive only used it for espresso so far)
