No problem Brady. When you order try to get some fuses for it aswell. They are a little hard to find and are definatly worth having on hand.

What kind of grinder are you converting? There may be better options if you are going to convert to doserless, as these only adjust to full second increments and thus not giving an acurate dose (to the 1/10g, i'd say +/- 1 full gram at least on these) They do however make grinding for each shot quicker and easier as well as drastically reducing waste.

Very nice. Thanks for posting JD. Installation time 30 seconds? So I'm pondering a doserless conversion and one of these. Sounds like massive waste reduction potential for under $200?

Hmmm... that's probably not fine enough. Oh well, the uber-cheap SJ conversion was a fun dream for a few minutes at least. Might still be useful to reduce waste. Something to ponder.

In my opinion it reduces waste aswell as giving you the opportunity to be more efficient (it allows you to do somthing while grinding and you don't have to worry about forgetting to shut off the grinder)

Hi All,
I appreciate all the input. The timer needs to operate at a tenth of a second intervals. The waring only goes by the second. The waste is dramatically reduced, that coupled with the dosing consistency between baristas is what I'm trying to achieve. I found a model by GraLab, the 450 which operates 2 grinders but it's going for about $180. I'm trying to find a less expensive option.

Can you post a link to that timer? IT sounds like somthing that might improve our situation.

$90 per grinder to control two grinders at 0.1 second resolution timed grind cycle too spendy? Highly doubt you'll find a plug-n-play solution for less, unless buying used off eBay etc.

If you build your own 555 timer circuit solution yes you could do it for less.

It's 90 per grinder as the cost is 180 but you certainly put it in good perspective.

"Tamper Dance" hell yeah. That is our roaster Coleen and some of our baristas. THe timer is the same as the one listed in this thread. On page 1

Has anyone used the GRalab timer? IT looks like it might break kind of easily. Photo equipment isn't really that durable in my experience.
