So I was starting to research POS systems for our upcoming cafe and then Specialty Coffee releases this article: http://www.specialty-coffee.com/ME2/Audiences/dirmod.asp?sid=&n...
What are your thoughts on cloud-based POS systems? Is Cloud the way to go or is it just a passing trend? I can see the pros and cons for both, especially with the help of this article, but I'm always wary of the reliability of new technology and tend to be a little more of a traditionalist.
I would love to hear any comments or thoughts on this topic and/or article, especially if you are currently using a cloud-based POS system.
Thank you!

Our systems are a combination of cloud-based and local servers. Square cloud-based for cc transactions and CoffeeShopManager for general transactions.
Overall, I like the ease and flexibility of cloud-based systems because I can login from anywhere and review shop performance and make changes on the fly. Local servers tend to offer theoretical better security (depending on your network) but are also clunky and cantankerous to work with remotely.

Great article! Thank you for the insight. I'm starting to warm up to the cloud-based systems each time I read a new article on POS systemsbut we'll have to do more research to see what system is the right fit for us.
Thanks again!
