Problems with steaming with Plus4you
Hello everyone,
I own a Astoria Astoria plus4you. It is a nice machine with excellent brewing results. However I find it difficult to make a good foaming. Steam seems too powerful and in 90% of the cases the small bubles in the foam "explote" after 30 seconds of adding it into the cappuccino and this delivers a bad appearance to the drink. In other forums, someone mentioned that the steam in +4U was always too wet. I tend to agree with this too. I do not have any problems producing good foaming with other espresso machines.

You can dial down the amount of steam that is coming out of the wand... From my experience they push out way to much steam "out of the box".

Thanks for your suggestion Adam. I have reduced the steam amount but the problem is that then I have a very weak milk circulation (for a 0,5L jug). It seems is a design issue involving steam wand and hole diameters and the number of holes. I feel that steam touches the milk too sharply.

Astoria machines tend to be very aggressive steamers. You can get used to the power, but not if there's an issue with steam quality.
Steam that is too wet can be caused by too much water in the boiler. On more conventional machines, you can slightly reduce the water level in the steam boiler to counteract this. Not sure about the +4U though. Have you tried phoning your tech to ask?
