Thank you to all who came to the rescue with the much needed tech support. The Rancillo Epoch came back to life.
Not entirely sure what was wrong with it but it sounds like the group jet was blocked. A paperclip was stuck into the pin hole above the group jet to clear whatever was blocking it (nothing came out, however). All of the removable parts were cleaned and the machine was shut down over night and the next day it worked. ?!
