Got a question for those interested regarding the purchase of a grinder.

I am a relatively new coffee shop owner and really not mechanically inclined.  But when push come to shove and something breaks, somehow with great trepidation I manage to fix it.  So durability and simplicity are high priorities when considering equipment.

Currently I have a Nuova Simonelli MDX grinder.  Been working great for 18 months, but I know the day is coming when it will break.  I have no back-up.

I am looking for suggestions on a good choice for a back-up grinder from basista/owners that have experience taking apart and actually working on grinders.

Thanks so much!

Rick

Mazzer super jolly. Reliable, cheap (for what they are), and easy to fix.
agreed. Go with a super jolly. I recently made the same upgrade. I sold my 7 year old MDX on eBay for $200+ and bougth a used super jolly with new burrs for $275. I'd say go ahead and buy a super jolly then sell the MDX to cover most of your costs.
Yup... Super Jolly...
