Roaster Classes?
Anyone know any "schools" or roasters that offer coffee roasting classes from beginner to advanced? I know they're offered at the shows but I was looking for something available on my own time. Costs and time? Thanks!

You could perhaps talk with a local roaster. They may be reluctant to help out if they think you are going to go into business against them, however if you are not then it is a good way to get in and learn the basics. Of course you may find you are not learning what you might expect this way... many roasters these days are self taught and perhaps do not have the indepth understanding of the processes that happen durng the roast. You could also take a class with one of the manfacturers like Ambex, or if you are really ambitious sign up as an apprentice with one of the bigger, well known companies...
