I am a new owner and would like to get the roaster professionally serviced for optimal performance. Does any one know of the service representative in NJ area that I can talk to.

Wow, I just Googled your machine. My roaster is a classic Probat 5L refurbished. I installed it my self and do all the work on it to maintain it. I wish I lived near by. I would work on yours just to say I did. Beautiful machine. I had no idea the French had any thing to compare with the Probat line. I'm sure some her might even debate that last comment but my first impression is of this unit is good.

Kirk,
Sounds like your staying on top of your game here. Is this machine roasting and cooling at the same time? Sorry if my questions are rudimentary. I don't know much about this unit yet.
By the looks of the .pdf I down loaded I would assume it does.

Thanks! It produces the best coffee I've ever tasted. But I admit to being biased. It's unfortunate the Sasa is no longer producing roasters (as of 3/09). They are amazing machines. I just had the cooling fan fail and had it rebuilt. I'm getting appropriate power to the fan and the blower is functioning as it should but the coffee is just not cooling as fast. No blockages in the pipes and the everything else seems fine. Just trying to make sure I KEEP producing the best coffee I've ever tasted...... Thanks again!

Kirk,
Cooling is most critical. As are a few other aspects of the process. I was going to rebuild, or I should say refurbish my previous 12kilo Ambex but just not enough time for it all so I sold it to someone with more time for that kind of work. I was going to have to revamp the cooling set up because of the vintage of the 1999 unit. It was not designed to roast and cool at the same time as I suspect yours is.
The party I bought this current machine ( our Probat 5L ) from suggested I split or divide the cooling between the roasting and cooling tray and adjust my profiles to suit. I'm not going to do that. This sweet unit of mine preforms best when left as the Germans designed it. That is just my little 2 cents on German engineering.

ok, so i also have a samiac 10k and am going to start giving the entire machine a detailed tune. i haven't heard many complaints with regard to cooling, although one person i spoke with replaced the bean tray grill with one having a larger hole size, allowing more air to be pulled through the coffee. with that said, it would appear that the fan is sized right, but the grill is restricting the airflow.

with regard to the probat comparison, i've heard only good things about the samiac and that it was modeled after the famous ug22. i don't know of any probat that gives you the control that the samiac allows, with separate motors for each function.

i don't suppose anyone knows here i can pick up a new fenwal regulator or maybe the item number???
