Ok so my owner is dead set on doing a brewed ice tea selection, however when ever I bring her a quote from a good tea company she says its too expensive on the other side of the coin she is fully against something like lipton. Was wondering if anyone else has found a good brewed tea thats not big $$$ thanks

You are looking at loose-leaf pricing, right? The silk-sachet pricing can be a little steep.

Too expensive compared to what? Most of the prices I've seen have been well under our margin targets, given a reasonable beverage price.
$12 per pound

Yeah, that $12 would be hard to beat. Tried the margin approach?
Its strange she is of the impression that the Tea won't sell, however we MUST have it.
$10-$12 per pound of good black tea is pretty standard. if she wants cheaper than that, it's lipton time
At 1 gram per 8oz water, that's a per-drink cost around 15 cents. What exactly is her target margin?

We use a company who's name I can't remember, but they are pretty reasonable. Will look them up tomorrow and get some example prices. They do a good selection of loose leaf and gallon-batch pouches for iced tea use.
www.petaliteas.com Found this place, the catalog she sent me had her loose tea selection as being 4 times cheaper on some of the selections, though thats for hot. Ive yet to see if she has an iced tea selection. plus I like the free shipping since Im located in ohio :) Though I didnt solve the Ice tea problem yet. Jut thought Id share the find.
I would also recommend TeaSource (Info@teasource.com) out of Mn. They are excellent at tea education and not only own retail shops but Bill Waddington speaks at WTE.

I'm not sure as to the pricing but I have met Michael and Bill at various trade shows. They also understand coffee shop owners and their reluctance to do tea. Just sharing.
Will do thanks Mike
Love rishi tea, though you will prolly be spending $15 a pound. Also, they have a lot FTO teas if your in to that. I agree with Brady bout the mark up though. 15 cents for the tea in a cup seems pretty great.
