Hey Guys, I was just wondering why Coffee Shops use Whole Milk ? Is it because it steams better or taste better ?

I hate, HATE when a customer asks for their drink to be "extra hot". I completely fail to understand their logic on that... and it usually is because they're ordering something large and don't want it to get cold, so they think if they overheat it in the beginning, it'll stay hot longer...

Consumers. Sigh.
Does your shop sell inexpensive "thermos mugs?" Available from the Ad Specialty industry, these are cheap enough for resale, and available "imprinted." Some shops order them with their logo and contact info... just a thought? Maybe this is the solution to avoid frothing the milk up to 180 degrees! Ouch! "Hot water burn baby!"

We sell a variety of travel mugs, some for as cheap as 3 bucks, and really encourage customers to buy and use them to cut down on waste (but people are oh so lazy). I don't think the mug matters - some folks just stubbornly believe 140-160 isn't hot enough. Maybe I should start offering to microwave it if it isn't hot enough. Maybe that'll make em go away.

I can't taste this unless it scalds my tongue. How do they even have tastebuds left?

This is my favorite trick for people who want it extra hot and either have it in house or in their travel mug: Fill the cup to the top with hot water and let it sit for a moment. The rim will get hot thus when they take their first sip they percieve the drink as hotter when really it is just the mug. (I make the drink the same way I would any other)

A quick blast from the steam wand inside a paper to-go gives a similar effect... the cup will feel really hot to their hand and that translates to "it must be extra hot".

It seems to me to be about an even split... those that want to sip it all morning versus those that really like the sensation of being scalded.
