Some major problems that I've noticed is the drama in some of the shops. I'm a pretty laid back and easy-going person, and honestly drama and politics drive me insane! My little sister and I both work (well, I worked) in coffee drive-thrus and have experienced the same problems. Usually with those baristas hired for their looks and bubbly personalities rather than experience or work ethic. With those people, I usually noticed them calling at 4 in the morning saying that they're "sick" while you can hear the party in the background and asking you to come in for them. Get two or three of those in the shop you're working at and that's when the drama starts. They will tell customers how much of a "b-word" the other girls are, spread rumors about the other workers stealing from the company, etc. My poor little sister, who works harder than you could possibly imagine, is constantly put in the middle of this and ALWAYS gets called in to work Sunday mornings and Saturday nights.
Us living in a college-town, the numbers of these "types" of baristas are pretty high in all of the shops. It's a bummer, too, because it really makes a very wonderful job seem like the worst job in the world at times.

I think it all depends on where you work. Ive had different types of problems at different cafes, sometimes its a co worker who doesn't do there share, so you have to pick up the slack. Other times its been customers that think they know everything and you know nothing. Over all though id say baristaing has was less problems than any other job Ive had.
