Been hearing lots of news about price pressures on growers and there are lots of sudden cash deals out there.

SO how is this affecting coffee growers?

The Hawaiian Coconut is beating that many coffee farmers have experienced some slow downs in their sales. We see lots of discounts and sales on websites. Certainly an unusual number of coffee farms are on the market this year, many with drastically reduced prices from several years ago. Perhaps gossip, but the coconut speculates that some farms may not sell and may have to be abandoned and then they go into bankruptcy or if they are leasehold -- the lease holders find new owners for a fraction of the price. It is not just coffee growers however, about any segment or classification of business has felt budget tightening and less cash flow this year. Here on the Big Island much of our income is based on tourism and visitor spending, but we tend to rebound and truthfully when you talk to people who have been here for several decades, these dips and peaks are not anything new. I guess this dip could be way down but then the fun is riding it back to the top! The sad part is those who can't hold on during the down ride.
