so I work at a shop on the south end of Minneapolis.
a new owner took over last Nov.
they didn't really like the atmosphere in the shop because it seemed like there were too many people just sitting studying, using the wireless and listening to their own music with a small cup of coffee, for hours.
the first move they took was to disable a few outlets along the storefront windows so that the wireless users couldn't sit there for more than their battery would last, and so that other customers would get those preferred seats.
now, computers aren't allowed in the shop on the weekends.
myself and my coworkers seem to be the bearer of this burden because the customers approach us, and yell at us for the disabled outlets and the weekend policy.
at first I was very skeptical of the idea because it seemed confusing to kick out customers or not allow them in at all.
now I'm seeing more shops doing the same thing, or going into other shops and seeing the same effect, all computers..
and not wanting to stay there..
any other thoughts on our policy?
thanks
