hello eveeyone, I am a new member but have been a frequent visitor to this site for a while now. I am in the process of buying my first commercial roaster...something in the 1-3 kilo range. My local health dept. Says that the roaster will need to get certified by the nsf. Can anyone comment on this process? Anyone gone through the process? I am hoping to start at farmers markets this spring on a small scale and this is one of the many steps I need to take. Thanks in advance for your responses. Joel

Most roasters made in the US will have a UL or ETL listing. You can check with the manufacturer on this. That should be acceptable to the local health dept.

Getting a large gas appliance certified that doesn't carry a UL, ETL or other acceptable listing is very expensive. NSF doesn't certify gas appliances anymore. For that the only solution is Intertek.

It's likely that they'll ask to see the UL listing for any exhaust duct work as well if you're installing indoors.
