Folks -- I've got a little more information on the Coffee Festival & will keep giving updates via this site.

From the organizer: "Our Press Conference will be on National Coffee Day (Tuesday, September 29, 2009) at 10 am. at the Southern Food & Beverage Museum at the New Orleans Riverwalk"

The festival website still doesn't have any info on it. According to the organizer, "NewOrleans.com has agreed to sponsor the New Orleans Coffee Festival !!!! you can check it the Festival at http://www.neworleans.com/ (see Spotlight Section) and also at http://www.neworleans.com/festivals.html (see the Upper Featured Section)
In addition to featuring it on their website, they will be including it on their banner ads and their emails which will go out to 14,000 in their database"

I've asked for a list of the coffee people and will share that info here when I get it.

Tom et al...what do we really know about this Coffee Festival? I got some weird e-mail a couple of weeks ago and can find and absolutely no information (beyond your link). Are you providing the coffee? Can I come do some on-site roasting? Will you do a mini barista competition? What, what what?

I may have a flavor wheel. Let me check and see and I'll let you know. I'm actually making plans to attend the Coffee Fest in Seattle in late September. Anyone interested should check it out : )

village coffee (opening aug 5th at freret and jefferson) will be giving out free drinks today and tomorrow (aug 3 and 4) if you stop by and happen to catch them inside while they train on their two new nuova simonelli aurelias

any thoughts on an august meeting? at some point i think it would be cool to do a tasting of different regional coffees to better learn the intricacies that differentiate a central american from an african from an indonesian, etc. does anyone happen to have the Le Nez du Cafe Standard Set and/or the SCAA Flavor Dynamics Taste Training Kit they'd like to bring along and share?? :D or even just a flavor wheel...? (i thought i saw one on the wall at coffee roasters...)
