Hello, All. I am very intrigued by vac pot coffee brewers. I have never try it or even seen a vac pot in person. Where would I get one and what's a good one to get started on?

what is the best way to clean the cloth filters? I have a Yama 5 for use at home and I am probably to the point where I should just buy a new pack, but for the sake of discussion. . .

I tried to import a container direct from Yama Glass in Taiwan but the North American importer intervened and stopped the deal. She offered us a very small discount on large 100+ unit orders, but she seems to have underestimated the popularity!

The rods are only good if you have a vac pot big enough to accomadate their "one size fits all" shape. A fellow coffee friend of mine got one for his three cup and says that he's had to rework his whole routine around that little beast in order to beat the cloth filter. I was thinking I might buy one and chop it down with a tile saw... i know it sounds cruel and unusual, but it seems it might solve the stirring problems.

I think most of us get the rods on eBay (at least I did). Maybe someone should start making them again (how long is the patent valid for? 25 years?)

I like the shape of the Yama as it sits well on the stove top and seems pretty sturdy, but I don't know about the cloth filter. It would be interesting to see if a different material could be used (ok, I did hack the filter holder to use AeroPress paper filters, and was somewhat successful but too much effort. The rod works great and have not looked for any other alternative).

Supply: Yeah, it seems that everyone gave them as Christmas gifts. So most stocks are depleted until mid-February. Wonder why we can't just get them straight from Taiwan?

We sell them on our site and the supplier is out of the stovetop models until the end of February. Kind of bummed she couldn't get enough in.

I would love to find enough Cory Rods for my site.

Yes, I do, and I am sure many more also use Yamas since they are easy to get, durable and relatively sturdy. I've had mine for a few years now (maybe I should say I use a hybrid since I have not used the cloth filter, I use a Cory rod instead).
