What is your favorite thing about the coffee industry?
Thanks for the words of encouragement. I truly do love this business and am hoping to make the move this summer to the west coast. Working in coffee shops on the east coast has taught me a lot, but there is still so much. I am hoping to start looking in April for a job where I can start to learn roasting from the greenest people I can find.
Hey Kevin!
I just returned home after 2 months of travel and am a little dissapointed by the lack of snow here!
I am so excited for SCAA to come to town, it will be very interesting to see how it changes the specialty coffee landscape in the Twin Cities......
I am new to this whole blogging thing so it will take me a bit to get up to speed....
Good to hear from you and I will stop in soon!
If only you had contacted me a few days earlier! I just got back from Minneapolis on Sunday. It was just a little chance for my girlfriend to get out of town and hang out in the Twin Cities area for a few nights. It was a good time and we had some excellent espresso at both Kopplin's and Black Sheep. I also had the chance to stop by and cup some coffees at Paradise Roasters. Then again, maybe it was better that you didn't get in contact earlier because this wasn't supposed to be a coffee vacation for my girlfriend's sake!
As for me, I'm not currently working in a shop. Coffee interest in this area is growing slowly, but it still isn't where I'd like to see it. I decided that since I'm busy enough with school and another job that I would just focus my skills on my home espresso set-up for now. So I haven't been a working barista for awhile but I help lead public cuppings at my friends shop in Cedar Rapids, Iowa called Brewed Awakenings once a month. Let me know if you're ever down this way, and we can meet up for some coffee....
I'll be there in May for the convention so I'll see you then for sure. And please do keep me updated on any jams or whatnot because MSP isn't too far of a drive for coffee!
