I own and operate a moderately busy independent coffee shop. I have competed in the Mid-Atlantic Barista competition twice, placing seventh out of seventeen this past year (2007). Just wondering what small college you are next too? We have one in our town too and are continually trying to get more students into our shop. Just curious how that works for you!
  • Rich Westerfield

I've never been able to figure out from that foto whether you're defending yourself with those pfs or threatening someone with them.

    Btw, great article on McCalls.
  • Troy Reynard

The best defense is a good offense, and I'm pretty offensive!
  • Mike Shipley

Troy, I used to have to sing that song in an 8th grade English class. I think the teacher just liked Green Barrett's. Peace.
  • peg bono

  • Rich Westerfield

woo hoo... lookie at those guns in the new photo.

With that look, you should be hosting your own cable show where you build custom performance espresso machines with tons of chrome and pipes...

Hey... that's not a bad idea!
  • peg bono

Hey Troy...we're at 9 East Broad St in Hazleton right on the main drag...across from the bank, by the law firm and the homeopathic drugstore. Ahh beautiful future customers, all! I hope. I've been plying them all with free drinks for a few months now, anyway! See you in March.

I have a long time family friend who has recently gotten into "biking". He put 10,000 miles on his bike last year. He frequently will ride the 22 miles into Cabin Fever Coffee just to get a cup of joe! I ought to introduce the two of you!
  • Bel Townsend

hey, thanks for adding me! Forgive me for stereotyping but you don't look like my traditional idea of a coffee lover! :-) glad to see we are not all slightly-shaking geeks.
And I love the barista vs boxer match idea!

Hi--nice to meet you. I also own a coffee shop--right in the middle of Kansas. It's been a challenge to get people to understand "good" coffee, but they are coming around. By the way, I love your Beauty of Christmas story. Next time you should bring the coffee!
  • Mike White

Hells yeah. You gonna bring the pain?
  • peg bono

hey Troy...things are going well, thanks. We're having fun figuring it all out, practicing our stuff while we're slow, gettin into it when we're not!Starting a light lunch this week...not something I am super thrilled about, but we've had a lot of requests. Do youall serve lunch there? Friday nights are starting soon, too. Growth is good ...in small bites. Thanks again for helping us christen the place!
  • Kari Skibbie

Hi! I have a small coffee shop in the a town in the middle of WI called Thorp with a population of only about 1300. So that is what I consider small. I and have been in business just about 3 years now too. Looks like we have a few things in common! I don't do latte art though. Haven't really got the nack of it but I do make great tasting drinks.
  • Beata Siwinski

    Hi!
