What cities or countries are you interested in traveling to?
I would love to have first hand experience with Jamaican Blue Montain production area and Kona coffee in Hawaii as well. I certainly would like to research more about growing and post harvest conditions that help to produce wonderful specialty coffees around the world. I would like to start with those mentioned above. In adition, I would also like to visit production areas of specialty coffees such as Ethiopia and Kenia.
About Me:
I came to Portland Roasting Company via Bogotá, Colombia, as an intern from the University of Washington, Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship. During my tenure at Portland Roasting Coffee, I created, implemented and directed a coffee quality control system; researched, tested and wrote the Quality Control Manual; and developed and ran a coffee-tasting program for employees and key customers – among my other myriad of other duties. I became part of this great team that is Portland Rosting.
About My Company:
Since 1996, we have been roasting coffee and espresso for the Portland community. Our coffee and coffee products are available via wholesale, internet, and retail channels as well as through an expanding corporate, university and specialty venue business.
As one of the Rose City’s original micro-roasters, we have stayed true to our values -- giving back to the farming community while actively seeking out ways to do better -- on all fronts. Whether its traveling to find a farmer with whom we can create a longstanding business arrangement or looking for more efficient forms of transport or purchasing a more eco-friendly cup, we are proud to be looked to as a leader and innovator in the Portland coffee community.
We consider it our mission to search out not only great coffee but beans that are grown by farmers who are committed to stewardship of the land. This goes hand in hand with deepening our longstanding commitment to sustainability with our very own Farm Friendly Direct™ Program.
What is your favorite thing about the coffee industry?
