Rolling the dice and going for it! Changing careers and can't wait to open the doors. Hmm..about me...well I'm very new and a little intimidated by all the serious coffee guru's that I see on the sites I visit. I want to make people happy when they walk in my doors and leave with a smile on their face. If I can do this then I believe the business will take care of itself...maybe this should be in the "about my company" section...whoops. Hope you don't mind.
About My Company:
Family/children friendly - having a family does not mean that you have to give up having a great cup of coffee or the ability to enjoy your local coffee house.
What is your favorite thing about the coffee industry?
The incredible amount of goodwill and assistance that I have been receiving so far! It has felt very welcoming and encouraging.
hi!
I'm from ottawa too, are you looking to set up shop there? I hope a few indie shops pop up around ottawa who are focused on quality, it'll make for a great culture and create great energy within the city I think.
cheers,
-Laura
I think you're on to something in regards to kid friendly cafes. It will be neat to see what happens with it. I come from a big family (6 siblings) so I can relate!
Can't wait to see what you come up with... will it be east or west end?
Kid friendly is great, and has been good for us. Please do your parent/customers a favor: get changing tables in the restrooms and commit to keeping them (and all of your toys) clean!
Rob,
I'm betting on the kid-friendly format, as well. The money is in the 30 and up crowd, and they have kids. And I'm in that crowd, come to think of it... Coincidence?
Think Sunday morning children's live music. It packs the ankle-biters in! ;>)
I've got an opening date of Mid-October, and I'm dedicating a corner to kids, with some blackboard paint below the wainscotting, and a low shelf with a few fisher- price type toys.
I mean, you don't want to run a day care, but the moms who have young kids will see you as a godsend. They'll bring their friends, too.
I'm expecting my second child in about a month... Timing is everything, right? New shop, new baby. No problem.
Ugh. Thank god for coffee.
