About Me:
My name is Jason Dominy. I live in Atlanta. I have been in coffee for more than 14 years. I have opened and ran two of my own coffeehouses. I also tried roasting, but wasn't that good. I worked for the 'Bou, Dilworth Coffee in Charlotte, and now call Batdorf & Bronson Coffee in Atlanta home. I train in espresso, and help people open coffeehouses and cafes. I also help with social marketing, and boosting coffee business. I am a member of the SCAA's Professional Development Committee/Espresso, and am also the current chair of the Barista Guild.
I also couple-skate with my loving wife of seven years from time to time. (But only on the slow songs, like Bryan Adams or Jon Secada.)
About My Company:
Batdorf & Bronson is old school in a good way, roasting excellent and amazing coffees for the past 24 years. They were one of the first to trade directly with farmers, building relationships, and investing in their lives. They are a certified Organic roaster, also offering Fair Trade offerings. They are based out of Olympia, WA, but also operate a roastery in Atlanta, which is where I work out of. I work with an amazing group of people there, like Mike Ferguson, heck all of them.
What is your favorite thing about the coffee industry?
The coffees. The people. The love.

Jason I appreciate the room invite. Work has gotten in the way and I cannot make it down to Charlotte this month.
  • UNC

Actually only been there a couple of times. I have 2 drive thru shops that occupy the majority of my time, so when I do have time off I generally skip coffee shops.
  • Molly Arnold

Hi Jason, Thanks for the welcome. I visit Dilworths whenever we're in Charlotte.
  • Mitch Buckner - Bella Caffe

We owned a Christian Bookstore for years (thats where we originally also opened or Coffee Shop) So I've met them many times over the years of doing conventions & things like that. Fun guys. Great music. I remember when I first found their CD before they ever got big. Got it from a friend at Provident Music. We sold them like crazy when they first came out.
  • Ryan Palmer

Hey man, on vacation this week, talking it as easy as possible.

I would love to talk to you about starting a coffee shop somewhere... A couple friends (who are also Baristas) want to start a shop in England... But would love to help run one first in the states, then go... let me know!
  • BaristaOnDutY

Not Exactly, Folkston has a small shop that does sell coffee, I personally roast beans for a few shops as well as individuals, I do plan on opening a Internet cafe here in folkston, I just recently moved back from StoneMountain. Thanks I will keep you posted on my progress~
  • Karin Loudermilk

Good to know you've got a great foundation! BTW, love your license plate!

Your profile sounds full of experience. Since I am new to roasting, I'd like to pick your brain from time to time.

I've opened a coffeehouse with a 5K in-store roaster. I'm probably spending too much time on research for crop reports. Not sure if I'm spending too much money for cup of excellence beans. I'm trying to work out an espresso blend profile that stays consistant. Help me!

Hey Jason! Good luck this weekend. I know you'll rock it! Have fun man.

By the way, on your recommendation, I finally got an aeropress, Jason. I love it!!! Very cool, practical coffee gadget. Do you use the brew strong and dilute method, or just brew 8 fl. oz. at a time? Also, what dosage levels are you using? Thanks.

Jason, we have a ball park idea of when the renovations will be complete. The contractor said he would like to be finished with work before Christmas and that means January for setting up, decor, hiring and training.
We must be open before St Patrick's Day!
After all we are The Celtic Cup Coffee House.

It means coming over the mountain but I wanted to find out more about your services for on sight training.
