barista, manager, barista trainer, home barista, coffee enthusiast, industry professional, consultant, entrepreneur
Where are you located? ( City and Country )
Seattle, WA
How many years have you been in the industry?
4 years
If you are a barista or shop, are you interested in a barista exchange with another coffee shop/barista?
yes
Tell us more about your coffee shop or barista skills.
I am a Barista Exchange Moderator and I spend most of my non-work time (and some of my work-time) jumping around way too many forums on the web....
But that's okay.
Check out our Acceptable Use Policy & Content Moderation.
What cities or countries are you interested in traveling to?
I'm in Seattle and would love to jump around to other coffee shops and just be a guest barista there to get a hands-on education on varying techniques and theories. Let me know if you're interested. I also will be traveling through Northern California a lot, and would love to jump on a bar around there too.
About Me:
I would like to compete somewhere down the road...hopefully a short road.
My first trainer job was at Trabant Coffee and Chai in Seattle, WA where immediately excited about being involved in the possibility of introducing the passion for coffee to someone. Great times at Trabant.
I am sponsored by Visions Espresso. I want to thank Visions for all of their support of my coffee adventures. Thanks again, guys!
What is your favorite thing about the coffee industry?
Baristas are always willing to educate and help each other. This site is a great example
Alex, I look forward to seeing you. I arrive in SF Fri evening and leave Sun afternoon/evening. I'll be sleeping at the Barefoot roastery, but will be at slowfood all day sat and most of sun. 360.739.2693
I actually have Friday off, and will be doin random house chores, as I've been pretty damn lazy. But I'll def be in at some point, plus I open on Saturday, if you'll be around then. Lemme know when you'll be @ Temple and I'll be sure to be around!
sweet stuff! WHHHHYYYYYYY did you not let me know you were stopping by the cafe? I woulda dragged my beat up ass and my 3 yr old daughter out there and poured you one myself.
Hey doodman it was cool meeting you and hearing about the trip you guys have planned to origin, I checked it out and already have travel plans during that period including some guest barista shifts. I will probably heading down to FVH sometime soon though. Let me know anything else you guys have going down and if I can do anything to help.
Wussup! Thanks yo! I usually only work during the mornings. Friday and Saturday @ Alley 24. Sunday mornings at the little red stand on Broadway. (6am-noon) Monday @ Alley 24 noon to 6pm. Tuesday @ the new location Brix from noon to 6pm. Mondays would probably be best! I'll look for those photos to e-mail ya! Thanks again and hope to see you soon!
hello alex ,
very cool site, i ve been in the business for over 10 years now and would like to open up my own coffee shop again. im in london, do you know anyone that is looking to sell? i realise this is a somewhat random request but 'you never know'.
Hey sorry for such a delayed response. Do you guys still want to drink some coffee in Seattle? I am in town and fully caffeinated! I am taking off Wednesday. I am meeting up with some other peeps but mass espresso consumption in a large group is fun! Hit me back if you want to possify.
Alex, great hanging out with you. Good luck at competition! I won't be making it to Tacoma, so I'll catch you later. Thanks for the all the great coffee and the chocolate too. Cheers.
Wussup Fam! I'm doing great. The shop I will be helping open in Venice Beach should be finished by March. I'm excited to see that you'll be pouring at Millrock. I'll be looking to improve my last placing. What I've seen in these photos you have looks deady kid! Where are you working now?
Whoa, I'm sorry to hear that. What's the deal with finding a new shop? What happened? (message instead?)
I'm crossing my fingers on a coffee job in the LBK with a chance to improve the scene for the better. We'll see what happens.
My business has been slow. Slow like the flow of money from consumers to unneeded products. It happens, I suppose. I'm just glad there's a chance I'll be able to work in coffee to clean up the loose ends.
Sorry about the MR contest falling through. I still have never made CF or SCAA. It was either a time conflict, or I couldn't afford it.
I think you should grab some worka from yirga-cheffe, some panama elida, adem banko from sidamo, kenya french mission...whichever you choose, you can't go wrong!
Ive just been chillin. being a reclusive coffee dude. workin the spro show in bothell. just roasted the last of my Lot 10 Gesha from the Hacienda Esmerelda : ( Ive been to trabant a few times since you up and disappeared. have you found a new shop?
Hey Alex,
My fiance lives in Seattle, so getting there happens pretty often for me. Not to mention, i was just layed off from my job at Tully's. But that would awesome to get a shift at your cafe, i would love the experience.
Ah Seattle, lucky to live there as a barista. Its really rather poor over here. Im in Aberdeen, Scotland. We have 1 roaster that seems passionless and the nearest place for a good cup is 70miles away. haha.
Down in England or even Edinburgh, Scotland has more of a scene for it.
That blend sounds great. I''m quite new to coffee and going to try out different blends asap.
man, just saw that you enjoy in beloya...well, me the same...and its great....so sad that i didnt compete again and won so will be now in atlanta and see all of you...hope to meet you in london next year...all the best...btw, just posted my beloya pictures

I've been seriously busy until very recently, and I guess the contrast has me feeling like it's slow, even though it's really not slow at all.
Kick some ass in the NWRBC!
