If you are a barista or shop, are you interested in a barista exchange with another coffee shop/barista?
no
Tell us more about your coffee shop or barista skills.
My education on coffee is still growing, I'll let you know when it has blossomed.
I have recently purchased a Rancilio Silvia and Rocky grinder.
What cities or countries are you interested in traveling to?
Portland, Seattle, Washington DC, Atlanta, and anywhere in either N. Carolina or S. Carolina.
About Me:
i am a graduate from Bradford School in Pittsburgh, pa with a degree in specialized business. it has always been a dream of mine to one day start a coffee business from scratch. i worked at a coffee shop for a year while attending school. i am now living in a small town that is coffee deprived. lately, i have been looking for cupping classes and barista classes to take locally and then once i save up enough money, i would like to travel to coffee capital Portland and attend ABC School.
What is your favorite thing about the coffee industry?
the smell of fresh coffee and the way it can change someones day with just a sip.
Caribou has some kick-ass single origin drip coffee - certainly beats Sbux in that regard. That you're interested in improving your skills speaks well. There are now finally enough good indies in town to allow anyone with the desire to learn how to become a great barista, so if you maintain your interest, something will open up.
We're sending all rookies this time out - right now only one is confirmed (Lauren) but could be as many as three depending how things work out.
You planning to attend?
I'll be competing in the NERBC, it is coming quick, lots of work to do. That's cool that you are going to come watch. You should volunteer if you really want the insiders perspective. You don't need any kind of experience, they will need all kinds of help.
Thanks, for your luck. Volunteers do everything from gathering dishes to getting people who are really busy stuff they need etc. THe company I work for hosted last year and they had plenty for people to do. I'm sure if you contact them they can tell you more.
Thanks for the props! I didn't even know about the magazine until you told me. Which is funny because my good friend Erin wrote the article and I see her almost every day. How is the coffee in the Steel City?
