If you are a barista or shop, are you interested in a barista exchange with another coffee shop/barista?
yes
Tell us more about your coffee shop or barista skills.
I have huge passion for the coffee shop industry, I have experience but only in small local shops, but am eager to learn more.
What cities or countries are you interested in traveling to?
any, but India and Peru would top the list.
About Me:
I live in a ski resort town...Living the dream, riding, drinking lots of coffee, and loving music and the outdoors.
The epiphany of "what am I going to do with my life" came one open-mic night when the local jams were decent and the line around the counter and to the door was making every other employee frantic and sweaty...I suddenly looked around and it hit me "this" is what I am meant to do.
About My Company:
Right now I am working at a shop on the base of the Winter Park ski resort. Eventually I plan to open a shop that would focus on fair and quality coffee, specialty bakery goods using as much organic and fair trade ingredients as possible, as well as being vegetarian/vegan. I want to promote local artists and musicians, as well as community and global causes.
What is your favorite thing about the coffee industry?
good coffee, and the awareness of its global impact
Lauren,
Yep, there are not so many Rues around that I thought it was a strange coincidence that I'd run into one where on the BX. I figured "why not make a friend request-- we might be related.." And yes, by all means think about stopping by if you are ever in Florida. We're open to hosting guest baristas at Volta, and if nothing else I'll clover up whatever micro-lot coffee we have on hand.
Unless your family ties go back to the Louisville KY/southern IN area, I'd wager there's not much chance for a connection. I did all of my own photography-- one way or another (either taking photos or writing about photography/film), photography has paid the bills for most of my life.
it's gotten pretty dang busy. Really weird times for the rushes, though. Mornings are totally normal, almost slow, and then at one or two stuff just explodes. Those are normally the slowest times!
You know I didn't look at your profile till now but I'm going for a Finance and Marketing Degree and I basically have the same plan for a coffee shop almost to the exact specifications except for I am not sure where I would want to open mine. Just thought I would share. Have a wonderful day!
Ha, yea I totally know what you mean. At least I know how to make a budget and sometimes that doesn't even help. I wish I could just take off and open it now but I know that wouldn't happen. That would be cool if you wanted to meet up! Meeting new people is my favorite haha, but yes, we could plan something!
