Profile Information:

What is your position in the coffee industry?
barista, manager, barista trainer, coffee roaster, home barista, coffee enthusiast, service tech/repair
Where are you located? ( City and Country )
Milledgeville, U.S.A.
How many years have you been in the industry?
3 years and counting
If you are a barista or shop, are you interested in a barista exchange with another coffee shop/barista?
yes
Tell us more about your coffee shop or barista skills.
My skills are above the average but I would not say I'm near the best just yet. I have been through a couple of courses now: one was a quick tutorial on milk steaming, with Jason Dominy, and the other was an Espresso 101 class with Rob Tuttle. Both of these guys are a wealth of knowledge, if you get the chance to hang out with them do it! For now I am working on what I have learned from these guys and perfecting that and then I plan on taking further courses in roasting and barista-ing. One can never attain to much knowledge concerning coffee :)
What cities or countries are you interested in traveling to?
Italy, Spain, Portland/ Oregon, San Francisco/ California, anywhere there are coffee farms specifically Mexico, Costa Rica, and some sites in Africa
About Me:
Barista for 3.5 years, musician for roughly 11 years, a couch surfer for roughly 1 month, so if you want to come check out the shop/ town I work in.....well then have I got the couch for you! Seriously I love coffee, and I love preparing it, drinking it, teaching it, and inspiring passion for it! I want to learn all that I can about coffee, and then at the same time I know that it keeps changing as it develops so i may never know it all, but what I do learn I want to share with the rest of those may know less than me.
About My Company:
I am currently the manager of Blackbird Coffee. We roast, brew, and sling daily, to meet the needs of our little community, AND we're down for an exchange :)

Also during the schol year we do 'Spro Slings and we are about to start doing public cuppings of our coffee, as we are trying to extract the best flavors!
What is your favorite thing about the coffee industry?
the passion of each true barista to learn constantly; the artisan-esque space we still have as an industry due to our youth; and the friendly and inspiring atmospheres that we have the opportunity to produce as long as we are willing to keep getting over ourselves :)

Sorry I missed your opening, man! I only get around to checking the BX once and a while these days. It runs so slowly on my computer.

If I make it by way of Milledgeville soon, I'll give you a shout. Do you guys have a web presence?

    Yeah that does suck.

RedEyeAthens.Com. We also have a facebook page.

Two Story is a pretty nice shop in the Five Points neighborhood of town. My buddy dave works over there. He does a great job leading the team of baristas they've got going. He and I are trying to get a coffee scene going in Athens but I bet we could extend that to the general NE GA Area. Interested in starting a throw down or something?
  • Cassidy Thigpen

Training is swell! I have passed 2/3 of the training so the only thing I have left is the mock comp. Ben already emailed me the official rules and regulations stuff but I have been working so much recently to cover for all the octaners over in Portland (go southeast baristas!) that I have put the training on hold. Once things calm down a little (at least for a while) I'll start practicing the last part. I'll be in Milledgeville Monday - ? next week so I get to see you big bro!
  • Jason Dominy

I will be there Thur. Plan on throwing down. Message me your #.

Thanks for dropping by last weekend. It is always nice to have coffee people stop in for a while. I hope you guys enjoyed your visit.
  • Paul Yates

Sure, be glad to have you stop by. Remember, we're primarily a bakery, so coffee has taken a back seat around here. But I still try to brew a decent pot. 721 West 6th St. Waynesboro, GA 30830 Our ph# is 706-554-3014
