Just a quick update, the lease is almost complete, the design is 90% done and construction must start on Sept 14th! So much do and accomplish in 100+ days!!! More to come...........
Stephen, You are righr to not ASSUME anything but do not make the mistake of settling for mediocre either. You will reap exactly what you what you envision. I have opened two stores in the last three years a drive through and a walk up and am in the process of opening my third a "come in and sit down" espresso cafe. Envision success. Learn all there is about espresso...how many chemical components make up the coffee bean how are they affected by water, temperature, pressure? At what temperature does the sugar in the different milks change how will this affect the espresso? What happens when hot espresso is poured over ice. What are the advantabes of toddy? It's a great business and coffee drinkers are the best. Envision success and have a great time getting there.
Because of people like Charles Lampard I'm a huge supportor of this site. Charles, thanks for the thread, i shared it with my wife and some how it brought tears of happiness to her. Your positive attitude and your vision is greatly shared by me! Thanks again and I look forward to sharing with you my success in the very near future!!
Hey Stephen! Just wanted to touch base, and also had a couple more questions to ask you about your lending process (I'm about to venture out, and I'm nervous!) Drop me an email when you get a chance!
Hi Stephen- I hope all is well. It sounds like you are getting pretty close to build out. Keep me updated on how your shop is going. Best of luck to you and your ventures!!!
Now I've started my own four month count down. Keep blogging so we that are right behind you can live vicariously through your success!! Almost finished with the design... so many "little" revisions... I just want to open!!!
Beth, I wish you the very best, keep your GC in check and make sure you start to form relationships with your vendors!!! I'll be in Rancho Cucamongo this weekend...wish you were open!
Hey Stephen, I like the name you mentioned, send me a message about how your place is coming along. So far it sounds great, it sounds likes it almost crunch time for you (building wise and such), must be exciting.
Thank you very much! I really do consider myself very blessed to love what I do. If you went through the course with Matt, I can already tell that you're on the same path. What kind of shop do you have?
Dang! Thanks the kind words. I really appreciate that. It's always great to talk with people getting ready to open up. Especially when they do their homework first. I know that you guys will make a great name for yourselves in the Southwest. Keep me posted...
After hanging out with you a bit yesterday, I am getting ANTSY!!! Feeling a bit like the Mervyns lady; open open open.... I love starting new adventures! I am sure you can't wait to enter the next phase either.
Just a little idea - on the website when you get it up and running maybe you could have a blog or an area where customers can ask questions about coffee and wine.
Looks like the shop is coming together! I cna't wait to get in there and dig in! Is the crew coming together for you? I hope you found some more great baristas at the job fair! Keep those update pictures coming. It feeds our souls!
Me too! Everyone was amazing. I think that we'll all really click as a team in no time. The way everyone was Tuesday seems as if we'll all fit so well with eachother. It's nice to know that you both hired on such an amazing group of people. I can't wait to start working with them!
I'm actually strongly considering it right now for when spring training rolls around. It would be my pleasure. I may actually be making a change of scenery soon and be closer to AZ. Keep you posted...
Hi Steve, Hey if you get a chance, could you let me know which of my guys you talked with about POS here at SelbySoft? I hope the store opening goes really well!

Steve! Sign up for facebook. I started a Press group there. I can make you an administrator so you can add information to the page. Barista Exchange, Arizona Coffee and CoffeeGeek all have pages too.
There are several contibutions on the discussion, which you can access from my BX page. The contraption I devised involved the Yama tea siphon filter, which is a two piece filter, with an Astoria dispersion screen between the pieces. It all screws together with no alterations... the discussion gives various ways of trying to keep the cloth filters free of flavor taints, be it a dingy taste from a dirty filter of a synthetic taste from a detergent...
Steve, good to hear from you and thanks for thinking about me. Recently returned from a great visit to Mulkiteo Coffee Roasters in Langley, WA. Hope to see you again soon.
