So you are from Miami? One of my friends is there right now and asked me to contact my friends in Miami to see what she should absolutely check out before she leaves, restaurants, night clubs, anything...any suggestions? I believe she comes back to rainy Eugene on Monday. I was in Miami once a number of years ago and the only places I remember are Mangos and the Touch...I don't even know if they are still around??? I'm Tera by the way and I'm brand new to the Barista Exchange, only a few days old!!!

Hi Barbara..thanks for the add! I see that you are getting ready to open your shop...congrats! I was curious though are you still looking at locations or have you decided on one?
  • Kenny Davis

To answer your question, yes we do nationwide consulting. We have a few different packages that we offer so help suit the needs of the individual. To be honest with you FL is one of my favorite locations to do. When I was younger my father lived in Orlando so I would travel back and forth from CA to FL. I also have family there so it's always great when I am on location there to take a few extra days to visit. None the less location finding can be a long process sometimes but when you find the right one it make sit all worth while. I would love to hear more about your ideas for your coffee house...if you get a chance shoot me a message!

Hi. Please check out my latest blog entry and tell me if you'd be interested in helping to sponsor me by providing a few days work while I'm in your town. Help me accomplish my goal of riding a bicycle across the county to help promote a sense of community and a free exchange of ideas within the coffee business.

I noticed your business is in Miami. I will need someone in that town as a sponsor if I'm going to make it to the Southernmost Point. It would really work out for you pretty well, I think, as Miami will probably be the last place I go on my round trip adventure. So you'll get to be exposed to a brain full of knowledge provided by a country full of enthusiasts.

    Best wishes.

Hey, I am trying to start a email chain of people like us who are in the planning/process of opening a new cafe or coffee shop. Are you interested? Let me know your email if so.

Barbara, I came across your post on opening a coffee shop in 30K and it reminded me so much of what I'm going through right now. I'm currently working on my business plan while I continue to save for my future coffee shop. Although I try to stay positive and focused on my plan, I can't help but to feel discouraged when I think about how I'm going to come up with the rest of the money to finance my shop. I know I can make the coffee shop a success and I cannot express how badly I want to enter the specialty coffee industry, but I can't do this unless I have the money to start it with. I see on your page that you're actually in the process of making your dream a reality. Do you mind sharing with me how you are finally making this possible? (where you able to obtain grants, angel investors, or loans?) Thanks, Stephanie

Barbara, I was watching you from the start. Great find. I'm cheering for your success. We are still open since last Sept. 21st.
Having a great time. Not the best location but we own it. Our organic whole wheat baked goods have gone over well. Our focus is still commerical coffee roasting but we need to offer more cafe options to keep the doors open. Our website is http:jolindas.com

Nice espresso machine choice. Once you get it tuned up I think you will love it. We have a new Aurelia two group and are very happy with the features and performence. Be sure and post pics and a link to your website so we can follow your passion.
    Best Regards Barbara,
    Joseph

Hi Barbara. Glad to hear you are interested in the upcoming BGA SERJ. Again, we're early in the process, but we have some really great things planned. For the less-experienced (or those looking to brush up) we'll have basic cupping and espresso preparation. More advanced stuff should include, comparative cupping, manual brew methods, latte art, dialing in espresso, competition prep, a roundtable on community building strategies, and certification testing for BGA Level 1. Top that off with movies, plenty of open-jam time, and a great latte-art competition and we should have a great weekend. Hoping for a good turnout. Will definitely let you know as things get nailed down.
