We're always looking for people who are passionate about coffee. We also try to play to everyone's strengths, so I guess we want whatever you're really good at... Good luck in Vancouver, I'll be following the comp. And good luck in Calgary, I'm looking forward to getting up there sometime.
  • David Robson

Ah it was alright. I managed to get a job in a small but insanely bus cafe in the city center. I've got an interview this this other place tomorrow so I've got some thinking to do i guess.
    How are things with you?
  • David Robson

That's awesome dude! congrats and good luck! I would be far too nervous to do that stuff, I think even a latte art throwdown would have me shaking like a leaf. lol
  • Sam Jones

Sounds like a name I know, but I'm a face man not so much on names. how's coffee in Collingwood?
  • Sam Jones

So sweet! See you in Van!
  • Bam

Have worked in coffee for a little while. More recently I realized there's nothing else I'd rather do, so I've gotten much more serious about it - i.e. spending a lot of time reading and researching, visiting roasters and shops, writing in my coffee journal, trying not to bother people with TOO many questions all at once (and probably failing).

    How about you?
  • Sam Jones

I love James! Tell him I say hi! Would you buy him a 'spro for me?
    Thanks!

hey bro, you ever heard of a little town called asheville NC? i'm opening a startup café there (www.wakinglifeespresso.com) after my loan closes in the next week or two. if you haven't found a job yet, check out asheville - one of the hippest little cities on the east coast (and no. 1 microbrew beer city in the US). throw me an email at wakinglifeespresso@gmail.com if you're still looking
  • Jared Rutledge

well my idea is to have a killer coffeehouse. i've got a used LM gb/5 sitting next to me as i type this, and i just talked to josh from compak today and i'm gonna try to grab a k-10 conical doserless or two before they sell out (new shipment coming in late october). i'll be working with a local roaster as well. the menu will be simple and so will the decor (running on a reasonably tight startup budget). i'll do one coffee in an airpot for the impatient people till 11am or so, then all pourover after that (probably chemex and cafesolo as well). there's another good shop in town (dripolator) who are getting latte art jams and stuff going. plus asheville is a fun place to be. anyhoo, stay in touch broseph
  • Jared Rutledge

it's actually north carolina, but trust me, you don't want to go to south carolina. it's just flat and hot there. asheville is reasonably cold (usually hovers between freezing and 7-8 C) in the winter, but beautiful fall/spring and great in the summer too. not too humid at all. right now it's a nice 15 C.

i went to university of north carolina at asheville and graduated cum laude in philosophy in 06, and i can highly recommend their program. we've got one of the top medieval guys in the world at UNCA. you'd have to establish residency but after that it's pretty cheap too. this year it's $4400 per year for full time.

    you got skype?
