If you are a barista or shop, are you interested in a barista exchange with another coffee shop/barista?
yes
What cities or countries are you interested in traveling to?
Anywhere with a coffee culture that I can learn something from.
About Me:
A few years ago, I wanted to make better coffee at home with my french-press, so I started searching around the internet. After arriving at Sweet Marias, coffeegeek, and home-barista, and doing some reading. I purchased a small air-popper to roast greens. Not too long after that, it was a burr grinder, and then eventually a solid home espresso machine. Geeking out with the espresso machine, trying to pull shots as good as the ones I got at Intelligentsia in Silverlake, became an obsessive quest. One night while I was in buying beans, I asked if they were hiring, and was told about the coffee-bar that was going to open soon in Venice. I was lucky enough to get hired for that gig, and have been learning massive amounts, and having even more fun since then.
What is your favorite thing about the coffee industry?
Thanks so much for all the suggestions i've been researching and plotting a path all morning :)
I moved back to Houston after a 8 month stretch in LA and Venice reminds me so much of the neighborhood I call home here, Montrose. love love love Venice so I'll for sure be stopping through and would love to visit... probably be in the area early July
Dude super crazy I was living in Long Beach when in LA and traveling all over for work. I worked at a shop in Canoga Park called Rocky Roasters, check it out if you ever have the chance. Rocky recently received his Q-grader status and does some gorgeous roasts and is a really great person to talk coffee and politics with.
I ended up in Venice not only because I fell in love with the place but also worked as a nanny for a short time for a family there...
How do you feel about Portfolio in LB? I always has consistent good drinks but the staff always seemed really stand offish and too cool for school...
*Internet-friendship fist-bump*
Intellivenice sounds so great. If I ever make it out to your part of the world I expect you to make me somethin lovely
