Kingston is in NY right near Woodstock, about an hour and a half from NYC. The culture is slow here. Some good some bad, but a nice place to visit. Lets buy an island where coffee and skulls are worshiped. The motto could be "Drink good coffee or die trying"
Hey, nice to meet you! you should totally move to austin and be a coffee geek with me. i see bike pictures on your page; there are tons of bike nerds here! i just got my first road bike last week!
my only advice about moving here, is to save up money! it took me over a month to find a shop to work at... and i must have handed out thirty resumes.
Thanks! My BF was pissed when I chose the pink cuz he wanted to ride it and absolutely despises pink. I told him I'd paint my old SS Schwinn black and yellow instead of the pink and yellow it is currently. Too bad its one of those old dip frames from the 70's so you can't hide the fact that its a girls bike!
Haha I totally agree! Chicago has a wonderful bike community but unfortunately for me my boys isn't apart of it. He loves his car :O(
Oh well at least I've been able to get him on a bike at all! I got him an old MT bike last year and was able to get him comfortable enough in the street to stop bitching about riding and just bike with me to the store. All that's left now is getting rid of the soda and convincing him a compost pile doesn't have to smell and I'll be content with the progress on his carbon footprint :O)
I've only been to LA once, but lets just say i'm in no hurry to go back! ;)
Austin has tons of coffee shops, with a handfull of really good ones. the specialty coffee scene is just kind of getting formed by some good shops and roasters in the area. caffe medici is my favorite. they really know what they're doing. cuvvee coffee is a good roaster, owl tree roasting, etc. there are also some other good shops like clementine coffee bar, thunderbird, progress coffee house, etc!
cost of living is kind of in the middle. texas is lower in general (much lower than Cali!), but austin is kind of high for texas, because its the "cool" place to live. tons of stuff to do, tons of places to eat, hangout, get coffee, etc. i pay $850 for a one bedroom, in a really nice neighborhood (travis heights). the four major highways here form a rectangle( I35, 290, 183, and Hwy 1 is also called Mo-Pac), and I wouldnt want to live anywhere too far from there. mainly just because thats where everything is going on. you know? if you want a cheaper place to live, i'd either find an apt complex (you can find some pretty cheap ones in good areas if you look!), or somewhere on the east side. the east side is a little more run down, but its way cheaper. Central and south austin are the only places i'd really want to live, though. dont bother looking up north, because its far away from everything and boring! hehe.
friday is going to be awesome! i'm looking forward to it :]*
i'll probly bother you before then so i could get better at fancy latte art!
have an excellent day.
this site is pretty badass. i'm glad i'm not the only one that takes the title of 'barista' to such serious extents. :]* i'll be fine makin drinks for people while mindy stakes out the cash register. i feel like i've always belonged behind the espresso bar! :]*
well, if the pennies are there I am trying, i only have the one, but have another design in the pipeworks, hopefully it works, it takes coffee related tattoos to another level.
