If you are a barista or shop, are you interested in a barista exchange with another coffee shop/barista?
yes
Tell us more about your coffee shop or barista skills.
For the past 2 years I have worked for Whole Foods Market as a coffee specialist. My job entailed:
*Choosing, purchasing and stocking coffee for retail and creating and maintaining attractive displays.
*Processing all invoices and credits and achieving and surpassing sales and margin goals.
*Establishing relationships with vendors and arranging weekly demonstrations of their product as well as participating in regional promotions programs.
*Maintaining coffee back stock and controlling spoilage as well as participating in monthly inventories.
What cities or countries are you interested in traveling to?
I just recently moved to Athens, GA and I would love to find a position here!
About Me:
I am an outgoing and friendly individual who is used to working in fast paced conditions and who is committed to outstanding customer service. I am dependable, hardworking and highly motivated but I also love to have a good time with good people and I strive to create a positive environment for myself and those around me. With four years of experience in customer service based jobs, I have exceptional organizational and interpersonal communication skills as well as an outstanding ability to solve problems. I have never been a barista before but I'm a fast learner and I would love to try this aspect of the job. I am also VERY interested in learning the ins and outs of the roasting side of the industry. As a child, my parents owned their own coffee shop where they roasted their own beans so ever since I was little I've been fascinated by the industry.
Also, freshly ground coffee is the best smell in the world!
What is your favorite thing about the coffee industry?
Word to the mother! Roasting is harder to find work in than some other aspects because it requires significantly fewer hands to do the necessary load. I have found that the guys at the Jittery Joe's Roaster are quite open to providing instruction in the art if you stop by early enough to hang out there while they're working.
Get a job as a barista and annoy the roasters in town to showing you what's up. So far my strategy has been working well.
listen, its hard to do coffee in athens cause its just so hard to find good coffee here. why don't you come to the farmer's market on saturday and bug my boss (the roaster for 1000faces)? I'm sure he'd be interested in your experience, maybe he could point you in the right direction
You should stop by Two Story one day (if you haven't already... or even if you have) and check it out. Were located in 5 points on lumpkin, across the street from earthfare. :)
