Hey Michael, I saw your post in the POS discussion. As a sponsor I hate to 'troll' for leads so I thought I'd comment here instead. First, great post - too many people miss the point on what to look for in a POS. I would add two other points that people don't think about.
1) Are you locked into a credit card processor or can you use anyone that you want. A lot of the POS companies lock you to a credit card choice because of the residuals they receive on your processing.
2) Is the gift / loyalty system separate from the credit card processing. Most of the tablet systems right now use Mercury Payments for credit and gift. I'm a fan of MPS but you have to make sure you are aware that sharing gift and credit cards through the same provider will virtually guarantee that you won't be able to swap credit card providers down the road. They own your gift card numbers and balances.
