About Me:
My name is Doreen Landis. My partners are the lovely and artistically talented (she does all our graphics), Stephanie Bennett and the local basketball legend and business savvy (she does all the accounting), Paula Light. The three of us bought our first business in August 2006 - Pennsylvania Fudge Company - located in the historic Central Market, Lancaster, PA. I previously worked in the medical field (clinical and sales). I am the one responsible for getting us into this boat load of work. I am excited about opening a cafe. I really feel it will make a positive impact on our community.
About My Company:
Two of my friends and myself bought an old building, formerly a corner grocery, in a historic neighborhood of Lancaster city and are renovating it into a new cafe, CHESTNUT HILL CAFE. We are putting a lot of effort into creating the right atmosphere, with color schemes, lighting, fireplace, exposed brick, original woodwork and comfy seating. We even added stained glass windows which are a real eye catcher. We recycled a local bowling alley lane for our back counter that our espresso machine sits on. We are trying to create a place where friends and neighbors can engage with one another to strengthen community cohesiveness. students and business persons can meet and network, and enjoy the convenience of wi-fi. We will have live entertainment on Sundays from 1-3 pm. What else is really cool and unique about our cafe is our business neighbor right across the street, Dogstar Books. They have all kinds of used and newer books.
Along with serving espresso based drinks, we will have a light fare menu consisting of paninis, homemade soups, pastries, desserts, waffles, local fudge and ice cream. We are focusing on quality products and preparation so our patrons can enjoy great food and drink in a warm atmosphere.
Congratulations and good luck! The pictures on your website of the renovations look great -- I'll be anxious to make the short trip to Lancaster to check the place out. Its great to see more good coffeehouses coming to this part of Pennsylvania.
